EcoVentures International (EVI) envisions a world of sustainable communities and sustainable livelihoods. Our vision is born out of the recognition that economic, social, environmental, and generational sustainability rely upon each other. Our mission is to inspire, connect, mentor, and train community members, especially youth, to develop as socially and environmentally committed entrepreneurs, and ambassadors of sustainable development.

We achieve this through working with community partners to develop and deliver environmental enterprise dialogues, learning journeys, training and training of trainer programs. EVI facilitates collaborative action projects amongst diverse stakeholders and establishes networks for environmental enterprise development at community levels.

EVI is in need of a research intern to assist our organization in developing its training tools and program materials. 

The research intern's responsibilities will include compiling information on various environmentally sustainable technologies as well as identifying promising partnership and grant opportunities for EVI's programs. Other responsibilities could possibly include assisting in the development of our organizational newsletter and writing for the website and other promotional material. Interns will work from home, but will meet weekly with an assigned mentor. 

Qualifications 

-- Excellent writing and research skills
-- Initiative, enthusiasm, curiosity, and drive
-- Ability to work effectively, both independently and on a team
-- Interest in innovative development work and environmental entrepreneurship
-- Experience in East Africa and KiSwahili language ability a plus 

Commitment: A minimum of 16 hours weekly commitment from August to December 2007. Internship is unpaid.
