This permanent federal position is as a research fishery biologist at the
Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center (UMESC), a research center of
the U.S. Geological Survey. Location: La Crosse, Wisconsin. The position may
be filled as a GS 12 fishery biologist (Salary range $54,315-70,605,

Description of Position
This position is with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Eastern Region,
Office of Regional Biologist, Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center
located in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The selectee will be responsible for the
following:
--Plans, designs and conducts scientific studies and synthesize and
communicate results of research in areas of aquatic invasive species.
--Develops diverse research approaches to invasive aquatic animal species
to include integrated and multi-agency field and laboratory efforts.
--Performs statistical and analyses of data sets and provides
interpretation and reports of the results.
--Writes reports, scientific manuscripts and makes oral presentations
describing aspects of invasive species research or integrated pest
management research and collaborates with peer scientists, as appropriate,
in the communication of study results.
--Develops contract proposals within and outside the Agency to conduct
research in the broad area of integrated pest management and invasive
species control.
