Warren Pinnacle Consulting, Inc. creates and applies environmental computer models for a variety of government and non-government environmental organizations. Primary clients include the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, National Wildlife Federation, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, The Nature Conservancy, and Weston Solutions, Inc. Areas of modeling expertise include the AQUATOX and SLAMM models.
Position Overview:
Warren Pinnacle Consulting, Inc. is seeking an individual to assist in the running of a small environmental consulting business (job title may be flexible depending on qualifications).
Research associate will assist in environmental model application and results reporting. Additional tasks include researching model parameters and model constructs. Associate may also assist in equation formulation and coding. Other tasks include sensitivity and uncertainty analyses, model testing, and proposal management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in environmental science or other related field is required; a masters degree is highly desirable (or equivalent years of experience in the environmental consulting field). Experience with computer models will be helpful. A strong scientific background is mandatory, experience with mathematics and statistics is useful. Technical writing skills are critical.
Job qualifications for this position are somewhat flexible. Environmental consulting is an interdisciplinary field so a learning curve may be inevitable in some areas. Overall, a well-rounded individual is more desirable than an expert in any one discipline. However, the applicant should have experience in at least some of these key areas.
- Environmental Studies or Environmental Science
- Scientific Computer Models
- Coding or Scripting, VB, Pascal, or Delphi; Object-oriented design
- Water or Wetlands Ecology
- Technical Writing
- GIS Analysis
- Excel spreadsheet modeling and statistical analysis
Applicants must be proven to have the following characteristics:

- Detail oriented with strong organization skills;
- Strong scientific background;
- Enthusiastic about an opportunity to build a career in environmental computer modeling.
Compensation: Salary Range: $35,000 - $65,000 depending on experience. Additional benefits include annual profit sharing, health insurance, pension plan, paid holidays, and vacation time.
Location: Applicant must be willing to locate in or near the Mad River Valley in Vermont for at least 6 months at which point telecommuting from an off-site office may become an option depending on circumstances.
