Position summary

The World Resources Institute has an opening for a Research Analyst in its Sustainable Enterprise Program. The position supports two WRI partnerships with over 15 major commercial and industrial companies based in the Northeastern United States. WRI and its corporate partners focus on building strategies and activities that promote proactive corporate leadership on climate change. The position entails significant interaction with private sector energy and environment managers, and is designed to provide the Analyst with both analytical and project management tasks and responsibilities.

Major Responsibilities

*Analyze corporate climate change strategies and the policy and market drivers affecting those strategies.
* Write high-quality business case studies that profile greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction projects, management systems, and technologies.
* Prepare and deliver presentations at regular meetings with corporate partners, and assist partners with information needs.
* Develop project web sites with content describing private sector responses to climate change and management systems for GHG emissions.
* Provide general project assistance, including meeting preparation and administrative tasks.
* Contribute to and critique WRI's peer-reviewed publications.
* Support the two project managers with budgeting and internal/external communications activities.
* In collaboration with other team members, draft activities reports for WRI's management and external partners/funders.
* Participate in WRI's broader climate change activities including other U.S. and international projects and strategies at the direction of the project managers.

Qualifications:

* At least 4 years of professional work experience, including at least 2 years of experience with private sector environmental management.
* Masters degree preferred in science, engineering, or business. A masters degree may be substituted with 2 years of professional work experience.
* Demonstrated knowledge of climate change policy and market-based mechanisms, as well as an understanding of corporate action on climate change, such as development of GHG emissions inventories.
* Excellent research, writing and communications skills.
* Experience with energy resources, markets and technologies is a plus.
* Must be self-motivated with an ability to juggle multiple priorities, handle assignments independently, and work under tight deadlines.
