Job Responsibilities:
* Manage a multi-organizational team of renewable energy specialists, including program inspectors, project managers, and technical experts.
o Recruit and supervise technical staff serving the CORE program.
o Manage contracts with technical experts providing consulting and project assessment services.
* Develop and maintain relationships with key program contractors and project developers.
* Establish technical work group comprised of program contractors, industry trade groups, and other stakeholders; sponsor regular meetings to develop and build consensus around program technical standards.
* Provide lead role in development and ongoing improvement of technical standards for renewable installations, with a focus on solar, but also including wind and biomass.
* Develop and communicate quality assurance standards and mechanisms:
o Develop, implement and refine program inspection procedures; develop inspection protocols and mechanisms for screening technical designs.
o Write documentation of technical requirements and protocols; prepare and deliver presentations on standards to public and professional audiences.
o Provide rapid response inspections for serious or unusual cases.
* Develop and lead training for staff and contractors in program technical standards for renewable energy systems:
o Train and/or organize trainings of field inspectors and program contractors; provide ongoing guidance and leadership on technical aspects of the program.
o Develop ongoing training and education to keep staff current on latest industry developments and opportunities.
* Provide guidance, leadership and resolution on technical issues, as requested by program manager or renewable market director.
Qualifications: The CORE Technical Director should have 5-8 years experience in:
* Design, installation and start-up of renewable energy systems, including experience in sizing systems, troubleshooting and acceptance testing, and/or
* Technical oversight of renewable energy incentive programs.
* Extensive knowledge of renewable energy systems including PV, solar thermal, wind and biomass for residential and commercial applications (emphasis on solar)
* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including ability to communicate technical concepts to contractors, consumers, program staff, and other stakeholders
* Computer proficiency, experience with Windows based computers, & familiarity with software design models (e.g. PVWATTs for solar installations)
* Ability to work well independently and in a team setting
* Demonstrated initiative and follow-through in areas of responsibility required for the position
