Tetra Tech EM Inc., a subsidiary of Tetra Tech, is currently seeking a Renewable Energy Expert for our San Diego, CA office to join our dedicated team.

Position Overview:

The selected candidate will support our energy team, which consists of engineers, scientists, analysts and support staff, in directing the assessment of renewable energy technologies, identifying critical market factors, helping to establish financial components of such projects and carrying out project execution.

Responsibilities: 

Primary duties will focus on conducting site screening, site assessments, identifying viable renewable development areas and resource monitoring locations, preparing preliminary and detailed feasibility studies and preparing life-cycle engineering economic analysis.

The following tasks will be required as needed for managing specific projects: preparing technical content for RFP's related to renewable energy project procurement; conveying knowledge of existing renewable technology and market conditions, preparing proposals, providing timely client communication, executing project scope items, anticipating project issues and developing appropriate resolutions; and monitoring project cost and schedule.

Qualifications: 

The successful candidate must have a sound engineering background and the ability to communicate technical concepts accurately in language appropriate for the client's background. Since evaluating sites for potential renewable energy development and client meetings are integral to this position, the ability to travel is expected. Technical curiosity and the demonstrated ability to provide analysis and recommendations supported by sound business economics are required.

6-10 plus years of experience in energy management/engineering; strong HVAC background; experience with auditing, project development, life-cycle cost analysis, commissioning, and building/system optimization is a plus. Previous experience working at Federal / DOD facilities is a plus. Certified Energy Manager designation is preferred.

Requires knowledge of utility information systems, energy management technologies and metering; excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills; proficient computer skills including the use of spreadsheets; especially Excel, and other database applications is required. The ability to write clear and accurate reports is essential.

B.S. in engineering (mechanical or electrical) and at least 8+ years of experience in the renewable energy industry is required. Consulting experience is considered a plus. Military or civilian experience working at Federal installations is preferred.
