POSITION SUMMARY 

The Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) is seeking a creative and ambitious individual to direct the educational efforts related to BEF's small-scale renewable energy projects.

In particular, this Educational Liaison will manage the content and delivery of BEF's Solar 4R Schools (S4RS) curriculum, will maintain and enhance the S4RS web portal (in collaboration with BEF technical staff), and will be the primary point of contact for each school in the nationwide S4RS program. The Educational Liaison will work with the Renewable Energy Project Manager to evaluate, modify, and expand the educational dimension of the S4RS program as needed, in an attempt to build the premier solar schools program in the nation. The Educational Liaison will work under the direction of the Renewable Energy Project Manager. This position will be located in either Seattle or Portland. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Client Management 

* Manage the S4RS educational web portal. Verify that content is current and that all web-based education tools are operational.
* Serve as primary contact for teacher champions. Formally present S4RS curriculum to participating teacher champions, ensure that they understand how to use the web portal and the classroom exercises. Provide ongoing support to teachers as necessary, so that they are empowered to use BEF's educational materials in the classroom.
* Request and evaluate annual status reports from each teacher champion.
* Receive and respond to general program inquiries.
* Communicate with potential applicants.
* Represent BEF in public settings.
* Write and present project reports to BEF staff and Board.
* Other tasks as assigned by Renewable Energy Project Manager and BEF Executive Staff. 

2. Curriculum Maintenance and Enhancement 

* Review BEF educational materials and third-party solar curricula. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of each, and recommend content and delivery modifications as needed.
* Improve BEF's curriculum and teacher training sessions by seeking input from teachers, administrators, and other educational experts.
* Manage the S4RS curriculum and teacher-training sessions, modifying the content and delivery as needed to provide exceptional learning opportunities for S4RS participants.
* Suggest and implement innovative methods of delivering meaningful educational experiences to students and teachers through the S4RS educational web portal.
* Monitor national and regional trends in renewable energy education. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: The Renewable Energy Educational Liaison will oversee the work of contractors, suppliers and/or vendors as necessary in the course of managing the educational aspects of the S4RS program. As the S4RS program evolves, the Educational Liaison will work jointly with other staff on coordinating additional efforts. 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

* Significant teaching experience and strong teaching skills
* Strong computer skills
* Experience in developing and managing programs, projects, and budgets and contracts
* Ability to work constructively with parties that may have divergent interests.
* Excellent communication and writing abilities
* Exceptional organizational skills. Ability to keep multiple projects moving forward
* Attention to detail
* Undergraduate degree in education, science, or related field, or four years of equivalent experience 

DESIRED EDUCATION, AND SKILLS 

* Masters degree in education, science, or related field
* Solid understanding of the scientific principals of photovoltaic electricity production
* Knowledge of the Northwest and national energy system and renewable energy programs
* Supervisory experience
* Experience with interactive, web-based curriculum delivery 

Time Allocation: Administration 5%; Teacher Training & Client Management 45%; Program Development 50%. 

Salary Range: $40,000 - $50,000 DOE + benefits
