Position Overview:
The major emphasis is on teaching, by working with students in classrooms, laboratories, individual conferences, and related activities to help the students develop their interests and abilities to the fullest capacity to become better persons, workers, and citizens. In addition to being full-time faculty with the college, this position will serve as program head for the Sustainability/Renewable Energy Technologies program.
Responsibilities:
This position will be expected to establish a new program in Sustainability/Renewable Energy Technologies for the college and all that will entail - i.e., accreditation, curriculum development, course development, establishing relationships with employers, developing a curriculum advisory committee, etc. Specifically, this position will examine college programming to identify courses and curricula where sustainability programming exists and build new programming to complement or enhance current offerings.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching courses in the areas of renewable energy (solar, wind, hydro, geothermal energy systems), fuel cells, and other sustainable energy and related topics.
- Faculty responsibilities also include office hours, committee work, student activities, community activities, student advising, and professional activities.
- Responsibilities may include work during the day and/or evening, and weekend programs of the college, as well as its distance learning programs.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's or associate degree in electrical or mechanical engineering technology or related field with demonstrated competency and minimum of 2 years of industrial/professional employment experience in a relevant setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field.
- Industry certifications in renewable energy and sustainability.
- Experience with design and installation of renewable energy systems.
- Experience teaching engineering, electrical, or mechanical courses, preferably in a community college.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, proven teaching strategies that promote student success.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (oral and written communication).
- Candidates should possess sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources.
