Our Operations and Asset Management department provides management services on approximately 2.6GW of wind energy, making us the leading provider of wind farm management services in the UK.

We provide a range of services for utilities and independent power producers, including award winning Health & Safety management, HV system management, turbine servicing, site performance analysis and optimisation, ControlCentre 24/7 monitoring, commercial and financial services.

The Natural Power Services (NPS) Division has been set up to provide first class service and maintenance to client wind turbines, reducing generation losses, improved availability and improved performance.


The Role
 

Due to the continued success and growth of Natural Power Services, we are looking to recruit for a Reliability Engineer.

The Reliability Centred Maintenance Engineer will be responsible to work with the Head of Servicing and other Total Asset Management key staff to develop and implement activities within the Operations and Asset Management department that relate to the introduction and use of a Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) management system. 

Responsibilities  

A selection of duties and responsibilities associated with the role includes: 

  • Be responsible for the creation and ongoing upkeep of a Reliability policy which NPS can execute in its services on behalf of its clients.
  • Ensure the principles of R.C.M are both understood and observed by OAM staff.
  • Identify, using robust root cause analysis techniques, and implement RCM projects and plans which can be used to reduce Windfarm losses and generate lower operating and maintenance costs.
  • Work closely with the Site Planners and Lead Technicians to develop and execute Reliability Centred Maintenance plans.
  • Work closely with wind turbine maintenance and operations staff to implement a process which tracks production losses and high maintenance costs.
  • Develop a system of performance metrics which can monitor the effectiveness of RCM based maintenance and work closely with the Technical department to integrate these into monthly reports which can be provided to Management and clients demonstrating the savings in cost and lost energy that RCM based maintenance has produced.
  • Lead the continuous review of operational and technical reliability at all NPS Servicing provisions.
  • Maintain a good technical knowledge of turbine technology.
  • Lead the process to work with customers to gain access to and utilise data from their windfarm data systems (e.g. SCADA and CMS) to facilitate RCM.
  • Liaise with Business Services staff to ensure NPS CMMS is available and updated / improved as required. 

Qualifications 

  • You will be qualified to a minimum of Batchelor Engineering Degree with a Master's Degree being desirable.
  • Further qualifications and specialisation within the Management of Engineering Services with a focus on Reliability Engineering is also a requirement.
  • Further to academic qualifications, it is essential that you have significant demonstrable experience working on the Optimisation of generating plant with past experience of wind turbine generators being desirable.
  • You will possess excellent communication skills being able to convey clear and concise information in both written and verbal format to staff, clients and third parties alike.
  • You will have an ability to work as part of a team but equally show strong initiative, ability and confidence to make decisions.
  • Basic I.T. and computer literacy is required.
  • Due to the nature of the role you will occasionally be required to work at Operational wind farm sites. Your health is important to us and due to the nature of working with and climbing Wind Turbines you will need to complete regular health checks.
  • Due to remote locations of windfarms, it is essential that you are able to commute within Central Scotland and therefore you possess a full driver's license.
