Under the direction of the Financial Officer, the Regional Staff Accountant is responsible for varied accounts payable and general accounting tasks including disbursement processing and tracking, accounts receivable invoicing, use of computer accounting software, support for grants management, office administrative expenses, annual budget development support, and other administrative services.

The Regional Staff Accountant understands and works to fulfill the mission and goals of NFWF in compliance with performance standards established by the foundation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Performs all steps of disbursement request processing from receipt of request to confirmation of payment in a timely fashion.

2) Performs disbursement tracking using Excel spreadsheets.

3) Performs fiscal and administrative support activities for project staff, grantees and contractors; includes contact with grantees and contractors as appropriate.

4) Uses CRITTERS, USL and other databases in support of fiscal and administrative responsibilities; prepares entries, runs reports, updates data in systems as appropriate.

5) Prepares administrative expense payment and reimbursement requests; tracks payments; contacts vendors as appropriate.

6) Provides administrative expense reports for budget development and analysis; prepares miscellaneous journal entries as necessary.

7) Prepares invoices to fund sources for management fees and tracks accounts receivable.

8) Coordinates incoming mail processing; insures that check receipts are processed appropriately and in a timely fashion to DC office; tracks all receipts and forwards for gift acknowledgment within 24 hours of receipt.

9) Performs activities related to final closure of projects; works toward goal of closing projects within 30 days of programmatic closure.

10) Supports reconciliation and reporting of investment accounts.

11) Performs office systems support duties and reception as necessary.

12) Performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

1) College degree in accounting, business, public administration, or equivalent preferred.

2) A minimum of two years demonstrated experience in accounts payable, office administration, finance, operations, foundations, nonprofit administration or equivalent.

3) Demonstrated skills in computerized accounting, spreadsheet and word processing software.

4) Excellent organization and time management skills.

5) Demonstrated ability to perform all duties with accuracy, timeliness and attention to detail.

6) Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively in teams; ability to be flexible; must possess a sense of humor.

Compensation: Starting salary of $30,000 with excellent benefits.
