The Marine Fish Conservation Network (Network), a national coalition of over 170 national, regional, and local environmental organizations; recreational and commercial fishing groups; aquariums; and marine science groups dedicated to marine fish conservation and committed to long-term reform of U.S. fisheries laws, is seeking a Regional Organizer for its St. Petersburg, FL office to work in the Gulf of Mexico region.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to work first hand with regional and local media, as well as national and regional conservation and fishing organizations.
Responsibilities of the Regional Organizer

This is an immediate full time position. The Regional Organizer will be responsible to the Network's Executive Director and Director of Regional Operations and will be responsible for:

* Generating support for fishery management reform from members of the public and diverse constituencies including fishermen, conservationists, businesses, scientists, community activists and others.
* Participating in efforts to generate earned media on the need for fishery management reform.
* Arranging and participating in meetings with Members of Congress in-district and in Washington, DC.
* Attending and participating in public meetings and events to generate public support for reform.
* Attending and monitoring regional fishery management council meetings.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have at least a BA/BS in environmental science, political science, journalism, or a related field and significant organizing experience working with advocates and the media and a willingness to travel, knowledge of federal fisheries management polices a plus. This position involves travel, which in some months may involve 25% of the organizer's time.
