SkyPower, Canada's largest and most successful developer of utility scale solar parks, is growing fast and expanding worldwide. As part of its worldwide expansion plan, we are seeking Senior Level Business Development and Management Professionals to augment its current team in key markets globally.

SkyPower will be opening several new offices in the next 3 months and therefore is seeking to fill Senior Business Development and Management positions in the following Key Regions:

  1. Middle East
  2. North, South and Central Africa
  3. South America
  4. Mexico and Central America
  5. Australia
  6. India
  7. Southeast Asia
  8. North America
  9. Southeastern Europe

Responsibilities:

Reporting directly into the Global Management Team, responsibilities for these roles include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing and anticipating business development efforts for solar PV power plants around the world;
  • Working in conjunction with the Global Team based in Toronto, Canada and local expertise as developed and assigned;
  • Performing a multifaceted function including business development, strategic management and local government relations;
  • Carefully monitoring the market and any general trends as well as particular shifts in direction to stay competitive and ahead of the competition and further establish the company as the top developer in these key markets;
  • Travelling intermittently throughout Key Regions;
  • Strategic business decisions relating to project development and entering into new partnerships;
  • Ensuring all new projects and partnerships undertaken have undergone the relevant due diligence, feasibility studies, documentation, commercial contracts, etc.;
  • Managing important relationships with partners, local and federal governments, suppliers, clients, financial institutions and other 3rd parties;
  • Communicating with relevant lawyers on all contractual or legal issues; and,
  • Budget planning and resource allocation; 
  • and, such other duties reasonably related thereto as are assigned to you from time to time.

Qualifications: 

Requisite Skill Set and Qualifications:

  • Degree in business administration, marketing or commerce - Bachelor or Masters, although MBA graduates would be welcome within a competitive scale.
  • Strong, proven experience in the solar photovoltaic market or other forms of energy (Gas, Wind, Biomass, Hydro or Nuclear) must be willing to live/work in Key Region for extended periods of time.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience business development outside of Canada.
  • Minimum 5 years' overall work experience in Business Development in a Senior Management capacity.

Languages:

For each Key Region fluency in a major local language is obligatory. Additional language skills considered a plus.

Requisite Technical Skills:

  • Significant experience in advising and documenting of all types of business transactions relating to presentations, due diligence, commercial negotiations, financing and permitting.
  • High-level presentation and interpersonal skills.

  • Passionate about renewable energy, especially solar PV power.

  • Excellent team player, gives/takes direction well, adapts, thrives on collaborating with diversely talented team members, integrating their divergent thoughts, opinions and perspectives into meaningful action.
  • Proven ability to apply critical thinking skills to project goals to enhance the process and end result. A quick study with the ability to learn new applications and methodologies quickly.
  • Resourceful researcher who uses initiative and sound judgment to get the job done.
  • Excellent self-discipline, reliable with the ability to work independently. Highly effective project and time management skills; ability to handle multiple projects, organize work and set priorities within budget.
  • Flexibility to travel. Must be willing to travel internationally as required.
