MaxGen has two major lines of business. The first is the planning, design and construction of electric vehicle (EV) charging and battery energy storage infrastructure. MaxGen is a specialist in the market and serves many of major companies leading the electrification of passenger and fleet vehicles. The second line of business is comprehensive operations and maintenance services for solar, battery energy storage, and EV infrastructure owners and operators around the United States.

The company has a central operations center and a team of nation-wide highly-trained technicians to provide in-the-field O&M services for commercial, industrial, and utility customers and has a distinguished reputation for safety and performance.

Position Overview

The Regional Manager, PV Power Plant, will be responsible for supervising a team of site technicians working in the field of renewable energy; specifically photovoltaic (PV) power plants. Applicant must be able to lead the team to produce high quality, consistent, and competent work in electrical and mechanical maintenance activities in accordance with company/project requirements, standards, and procedures.

Typical work being supervised includes, but is not limited to, full system commissioning, preventative/corrective maintenance, vegetation management, module washing, system performance evaluation and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

The following responsibilities are not limited to:

  • Supervise a team of field technicians, and electricians
  • Ensure timely and professional performance of field service work as scheduled

Provide training to field personnel on complex issues as needed, including:

  • Electrical, mechanical, and networking system maintenance and repairs
  • Commissioning PV systems, including but not limited to; insulation testing (megger testing), I-V curve testing, thermal imagery, torque tests and performance evaluations
  • PV module, inverter, tracker, and data monitoring system maintenance and repairs
  • Preventative and corrective maintenance on PV solar, electric vehicle charging stations, and electrical energy storage systems
  • Conduct site safety assessments and identify all safety hazards on job-site, lead daily safety meetings, properly fill out JHA & LOTO documentation
  • Drive positive safety culture
  • Ensure that personnel are always working in a safe manner
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with NEC requirements & industry best practices
  • Utilize a cloud based service ticketing platform to schedule and monitor your team’s activities
  • Coordinate with Planning/Scheduling team to ensure efficient scheduling & dispatch
  • Communicate with internal and external customers as required
  • Generate service specific reports using Microsoft Word and Excel to present to the customer as a professional document
  • Ensure all contractual service requirements are being met
  • Maintain cost within budget
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • High school Graduate, holder of G.E.D., or equivalent training
  • State Certified Electrician (Journeyman level)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • State Electrical Contractor License

Skills and Experience:

Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Strong understanding of OSHA safety requirements including LOTO, Arc Flash, JHA/JSA, etc.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to adapt and comply with Company/Client requirements
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing, multi-cultural environment
  • Experience with interviewing and hiring talented and skilled personnel to perform field service work in the renewables space
  • Experience with and understanding of operations and maintenance contracts
  • Strong electrical, electronic and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Technical knowledge of solar, and PV related applications
  • Strong work ethic, be a self-starter and work without direct supervision
  • Excellent technical and non-technical verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to generate, track, and complete site work requirements
  • Experience with using plant control and monitoring systems to diagnose plant problems and monitor site daily performance
  • Ability to understand and work within company business processes and ensure an efficient working environment
  • Demonstrates safe work practices and quality orientation
  • Able to work within a project team
  • Solid working knowledge of various measurement techniques used in the renewable energy maintenance
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems independently with a high level of results
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code
  • Work 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week, overtime and night shifts as required
  • Strong computer and MS Office skills
  • Desire to learn and develop within the role

Working Environment:

  • Travel required –50% or more
  • Job may require occasionally working in harsh environments depending on job location and time of year
  • Perform work at various heights up to 50’, working from ladders, bucket trucks, scaffolding, catwalks, aerial lifts or other safe working platforms
  • Working around high voltages and currents
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat and safety glasses
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds
  • Possess good vision (natural or corrected)
  • Work remotely and alone for long hours
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead
