Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Inspector
position works with customers in the Mass Save Home Energy Services program to
inspect quality and completion of weatherization work.  The position performs diagnostic and
combustion safety testing, resolves customer concerns, and works with
contractors to correct quality issues. 

Responsibilities

Position
responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned to meet
business needs):

  • Complete
    in-process and final inspections for weatherization work.
  • Perform
    blower door tests, combustion safety tests, and infrared scans
  • Perform
    detailed data collection at job sites.
  • Establish
    plans for correcting any problems, including measuring and specifying
    insulation and other improvements.
  • Explain
    problems discovered to contractors through phone conversations, emails,
    photos, and meetings.
  • Follow
    up with contractors to ensure problem resolution.
  • Make
    recommendations for changes to installation standards and audit protocols
    to prevent future problems.
  • Communicate
    with customers to resolve all complaints.
  • Provide
    data for monthly reporting/merit based allocation.
  • Participate
    in field staff and contractor meetings.

Qualifications

  • College
    degree in related field desired.
  • Minimum 2
    years of customer service experience.
  • Basic
    knowledge of residential building and integrated building science - with
    interest in learning more - is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated
    computer skills including use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook,
    Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated
    ability to interpret program standards and rules.
  • Demonstrated
    customer relations skills, including ability to clearly translate
    technical, building science information for homeowners.
  • Strong oral
    and written communication skills.
  • Ability to
    obtain Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification as a Building
    Analyst I.
  • Ability to
    work in attics, crawlspaces, on ladders, and to carry loads (involves
    ability to work in hot and cold temperatures, good balance, and ability to
    crawl and kneel for extended periods of time).

Compensation: This position is a full-time, salaried position with benefits.  Work on some weekends and evenings will be
required.  Travel throughout Western
Massachusetts is necessary.  Some work
from home will be expected.
