Description

EnergySavvy is focused on making home energy efficiency easy for homeowners. Our website weaves together a variety of complex technologies such as energy modeling algorithms and geo-indexed data in a deceptively simple and user friendly way. In addition to EnergySavvy we power several other sites with our technology and are rapidly expanding our partnerships.

We're excited to be at the intersection of energy efficiency and the web as the energy efficiency industry undergoes a dramatic transformation. In case you think there's not much money there, making US homes more energy efficient will result in $50 billion in saved energy costs per year.

We're a smart, talented team that gets into passionate yet constructive arguments when we design things. We understand that a clean and simple user experience is a critical part of any product and hold ourselves to a high quality bar in both visual and code design. We've got a ton to do and we're looking for a few more awesome folks to join us.

Our technology stack includes: Django, nginx, mod_wsgi, Apache, BlueprintCSS, jQuery, Python, TinyMCE, PostgreSQL, GeoDjango, PostGIS - but you already knew most of that just from glancing at our site. We've contributed patches back to Django and other projects we've worked on and we firmly believe in being a good member of the open source community.

Qualifications:

What we are looking for:

  • Python Web Developer: any experience level
  • Proven experience building database backed web applications and dynamic web sites
  • Expertise in Python or a similar language
  • Comfortable at a Linux command line
  • Have had your butt saved by tests that you wrote
  • Love clean & well defined interfaces
  • Hate having unused imports in your source files
  • A pragmatic, hacker's approach to problems: sometimes you'll need to do perfect, and sometimes you'll need to do now

Huge plusses that will make you stand out:

  • HTML, CSS, and Javascript knowledge
  • Experience with PostGIS or other geographical toolkit
  • A design eye and attention to detail
  • Startup experience
  • A passion for energy efficiency

Compensation: EnergySavvy is funded and has active customers and revenue, however we're still pretty early stage, so compensation includes a significant equity piece.

Our office is in an easy to reach and walkable part of downtown Seattle, Washington and we have a variety of benefits such as health insurance and free lunches.
