PV Design Engineer

Position Overview

The Solar PV Design Engineer will work directly with TRC Lead Engineers in a consulting environment to support commercial, and utility scale Solar PV systems. Position will include performing calculations, working with engineering programs, design/drafting in AutoCAD, leading site visits, coordinating project teams.

Responsibilities

Tasks:

• Specification development for Solar PV design packages including solar array layouts, electrical one-lines, and equipment mounting details using AutoCAD for residential, commercial, and utility scale Solar PV systems.
• Takes engineering lead on solar-specific projects to include contract review, progress tracking, and interdepartmental communications.
• Drafts and reviews energy yield calculations using tools such as PVSYST.
• Use Excel spreadsheets and calculations to size Solar PV systems and put together detailed material lists.
• Lead site visits to gather notes and take pictures of existing conditions to aid in design.
• Review site visit details to determine interconnection requirements and PV system potential issues.
• Work with project teams to provide technical assistance and design services for proposals including putting together Solar PV module layouts using AutoCAD showing module location, shading buffer, fencing, etc.
• Put together Zoning Site Plans showing module locations, fencing, site access, buffer plans, etc. using AutoCAD.
• Track actual costs for each project and project estimated final cost to build.
• Lead permitting process and Interconnection process.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• BSEE or related engineering field.
• 5+ years' experience using AutoCAD, PV Syst, or similar tools.
