Description
Urbane Development is a community and economic development firm, located in Philadelphia, PA, working with urban communities to strengthen their asset base – businesses, real estate, and human capital – to catalyze a truly comprehensive and sustainable revitalization process.
Urbane engages clients through 3 core service components: retail attraction and retention program design for municipalities and other economic development entities; small business operational technical assistance, and sustainable design and development of commercial and mixed-use real estate. Urbane’s client base includes municipalities, economic development agencies, financial institutions, real estate developers, and small businesses throughout the US.
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Urbane Development management team, the intern will participate in the coordination of a comprehensive public and media relations strategy for Urbane Development.
- Assist in developing company’s web/multimedia strategy
- Work with graphic designer on redesign of company website
- Manage company blog – bodegachronicles.com and social media outreach via Twitter, Facebook, Vimeo, YouTube, et al
- Create company newsletter and press kit
- Writing press releases
- Update/maintain media lists
- General research and office duties
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Rising undergraduate junior or above required. Bachelor’s degree or commensurate work experience preferred.
Skills Required:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to communicate with diverse populations
- Fluency with Microsoft Office programs
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Well organized with attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Professional demeanor
Experience or Special Skills Desired:
- Experience with Adobe Creative Design Suite
- Web/graphic design experience
- Past public relations/marketing/journalism experience
- Event planning experience
Schedule: Minimum of 10 weeks beginning May or June 2011. Some tasks may be able to be performed remotely. Please advise if available beyond 10 week period. Internship is based in New York City.
Compensation: Stipend level based on experience.
