The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is a non-profit national environmental organization with more than 1.2 million members and online activists. We have offices in New York, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Los Angeles. Our staff of over 250 includes attorneys, scientists, policy analysts and educators working to protect the environment and public health through advocacy and education.
Position Summary:
NRDC seeks to hire an attorney to work on issues involving pesticides, industrial chemicals and other environmental health threats (especially to children). The Public Health Program Attorney will be responsible for both litigation and advocacy to address a variety of significant environmental health problems and environmental injustices.
NRDC represents both its own members and a range of outside clients, including neighborhood associations, regional grassroots organizations, and environmental, labor, and public health groups.
Specific responsibilities will include federal and state litigation, policy analysis, media outreach, legislative work, coalition building and/or developing campaigns.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
* J.D. required with two to five years of legal experience
* Exceptional writing and analytical skills
* Relevant litigation experience; federal court clerkship is a plus
* Commitment to nonprofit lawyering
