The Chesapeake Bay Foundation seeks a Public Grants Officer in its Philip Merrill Environmental Center headquarters office located in Annapolis, Maryland.
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) is the largest regional non-profit conservation organization working solely to save the Bay. Position Overview:
The Public Grants Officer is part of the Corporate and Foundation Relations team (CFR) of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Development Department. The CFR team is responsible for raising annual operating funds and additional support of CBF's supplemental activities from public and private sources.
As an integral member of the CFR team, this staff member will be primarily responsible for the procurement, management, and stewardship of all federal and state grants, and will be assigned a small caseload of prospects and donors for cultivating and soliciting, through written grant proposals and programmatic reports. The Public Grants Officer will collaborate closely with CBF's program staff, departmental Financial Managers, and the Finance Department's Grants Accountant to monitor all state and federal grants.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions include:
- Procure federal and state funds in support of CBF's annual operating and campaign goals and supplemental activities
- Steward each grant and donor, overseeing grant management activities throughout the grant period and cultivating the donor for future support.
- Serve as a resource to other departments on public grants.
- Maintain relationships with and fundraise from a select group of assigned prospects.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years experience in fundraising/development with an emphasis on grants management, particularly the procurement and stewardship of public and reimbursable grants. Demonstrated success in securing grants and experience in writing grant proposals and stewardship reports is preferable.
Thorough knowledge of development department functions, sources of public funding, primarily at the federal level, with knowledge of Raiser's Edge or similar software is preferable. Proficiency in computer systems and MS Office software is required. General knowledge of CBF's mission and work will be helpful.
