Position Overview:

The Project/Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and execution of capital projects in the engineering, procurement and construction phase, ensuring consistency with company strategy and goals.  The position serves as an Engineering resource to Elevance.

The project manager will work closely with other members of the Development and Engineering team including the director of process design, and Manufacturing personnel and management as necessary. The project manager will report to Director, Development and Engineering.

The position is located in Elevance's Corporate Headquarters and R&D facility in Woodridge, IL.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and implementation of capital projects.
  • Coordinate closely with manufacturing personnel and management as necessary.
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Define project tasks and resource requirements
  • Develop full scale project plans
  • Coordinate Elevance and contract project staff
  • Manage project budget
  • Manage interface with Engineering contractors
  • Develop and manage project timelines
  • Track project deliverables using appropriate tools
  • Provide direction and support to project team
  • Quality assurance
  • Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders
  • Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
  • Evaluate projects and assess results

Qualifications:

Candidates must have:

  • Minimum B.S. degree in Engineering (mechanical preferred)
  • Minimum 10 years experience in project management of projects in the $ 50m - $200m range, working with Engineering, Procurement, Construction companies.
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
  • Thorough understanding of project management techniques, tools and principles
  • Proven experience in risk analysis and management
  • Proven experience in change management

Strong candidates will also have:

  • Experience in petrochemical projects.
  • Certification in project management or equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated leadership skills; negotiations experience; the ability to effectively network, influence, form coalitions and work with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Proven ability to create and manage effective alliances with vendors, other functional groups and business counterparts.
  • Must be a team player and capable of working in a fast paced environment
  • Strong analytical ability and perseverance to solve problems using sound judgment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
