Strategic Energy Innovations (SEI) is seeking a Project Manager to support its exciting programs for energy efficient and affordable housing California in addition to assisting with other energy and green building related projects. This is a full time position working typical office hours, Monday-Friday. Target start date is beginning to mid February 2007; applications must be submitted as soon as possible.

ABOUT SEI'S HOUSING PROGRAMS
Funded by the Southern California Edison company, The Housing Energy Program is aimed at improving energy efficiency in the underserved affordable housing market. The program aggregates small- and medium-sized public and assisted housing agencies into larger, more concentrated groups to facilitate implementation of energy efficiency and demand reduction strategies through the use of energy performance contracts and traditional energy management services. In addition, the program conducts market development for greenhouse gas reduction credits resulting from the installed energy efficiency retrofits.
Led by Navigant Consulting, the California Sustainability Alliance aims to increase and accelerate the adoption of sustainability best practices in the planning, design, construction and operation of new and existing facilities and communities. SEI provides multiple layers of assistance, including leading the pilot for affordable housing.
PROJECT MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES
The SEI Project Manager supports the activities of the Project Directors and will report to the Executive Director. The majority of this position will coordinate a variety of work under both the Housing Energy Program and the affordable housing pilot for the CA Sustainability Alliance in Southern California, including interfacing with affordable housing agencies, overseeing a project team to deliver marketing, technical and administrative assistance to the agencies as per program objectives, and a variety of project management responsibilities. As time permits, this position may also assist SEI staff on projects focused on the urban planning, multi-family housing, green building and alternative energy sectors.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE
- Support all aspects of implementing the Housing Energy Program and the CA Sustainability Alliance;
- Implement marketing campaign to enroll housing agencies in the program, including developing marketing material;
- Coordinate the HEP project team and its technical assistance, marketing, and emissions exchange efforts;
- Prepare regular reports and spreadsheets quantifying and tabulating findings;
- Project management including budget tracking and time management;
- Oversee tracking of housing energy data, managing customer data and flow of information; - Make presentations at workshops and meetings;
- Serve as a clearinghouse for information related to energy efficiency for affordable housing; - Work with all SEI team members to develop and implement innovative programs and/or expand housing programs. Activities may include identifying funding sources and writing grant proposals
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with policies, financing and procedures of the affordable housing sector and government programs related to affordable housing (e.g., Housing and Urban Development) strongly preferred.
The successful candidate will have all or most of the following qualities, skills, and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in energy management, community development, or other related field or equivalent work experience
- A clear understanding of the affordable housing sector
- Familiarity with energy assessment tools and techniques
- Solid understanding of energy efficiency concepts
- Effective organizational skills
- Proven communications skills, including excellent writing and verbal skills
- Able to work both under direct supervision and independently
- Fundamental project management knowledge
- Ability to follow through and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build rapport with a wide range of people
- Computer skills; word processing and spreadsheet capabilities are essential; website management skills a plus
