Description

Clean Energy Coalition, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Washtenaw County, Michigan, seeks a Project Manager to assist with municipal and local government clean energy projects and programs.

Position Overview: 

Applicants must be proactive, resourceful, and possess exceptional research, analytic, and communication skills. The Project Manager will work closely with other CEC Communities and Structures staff under the guidance of the Division Manager.  Applicants must be willing to travel to municipalities to provide on-site project management. 

Responsibilities                                        

  • Research, develop, and implement municipal energy policies, plans, and programs.
  • Conduct analysis of municipal energy use, energy efficiency and renewable energy measures, and greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategies.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluation of municipal energy projects and programs and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Gather data and actively manage municipal facility energy usage.
  • Develop tools and strategies to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Assist with completion of community and municipal greenhouse gas emissions inventories.
  • Coordinate public outreach and education efforts including developing outreach strategies and materials, leading educational workshops, and effectively utilizing social marketing technologies.
  • Coordinate and lead community forums, open houses, meetings, and events.
  • Act as a liaison to media, individuals, and partner organizations in order to develop and implement community energy outreach and education programs.
  • Assemble and interpret a variety of energy related data and prepare accurate written reports.
  • Complete grant proposals and reporting.
  • Act as a spokesperson for Clean Energy Community projects and programs to raise awareness with residents, businesses, and local officials.
  • Administrate project work plans, budget, schedule, and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.  
  • Actively manage and coordinate day-to-day interaction with clients and project stakeholders.  Organize and run meetings on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate the development of project scopes of work, develop Requests for Proposals, review and evaluate submitted proposals, and manage contractor performance once projects begin.
  • Contribute as needed to written communication materials, such as newsletters, web site, fact sheets, news releases, presentations, grant proposals, and reports.
  • Oversee part-time interns and volunteers.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned, including projects for other CEC divisions as deemed necessary.

Qualifications:                                            

  • Master's degree preferred in environmental science, urban planning, public policy, public administration, or any related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated project management experience.
  • Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills
  • Capability to build consensus and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Must be highly organized with demonstrated organizational and leadership skills.
  • Self-starter, detail-oriented, enthusiastic, innovative, and capable of meeting challenges and deadlines.
  • Team player with trouble-shooting and exceptional multi-tasking skills.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven commitment to energy and environmental issues.
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency using basic Microsoft and/or similar software products such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, email, web, database applications, and capacity to work in Mac OS environment.
  • Experience with environmental, clean transportation, energy efficiency, and/or renewable energy projects preferred.
  • Existing experience working with local governments preferred.
