~ RREAL (Rural Renewable Energy Alliance), a 501(c)(3) founded in 2000, is dedicated to making solar energy accessible to communities of all income levels, and has been pioneering the use of solar energy to address fuel poverty throughout the nation. ~

RREAL accomplishes its mission primarily through its Solar Assistance program which provides residential solar energy systems to low-income families on public energy assistance as a lasting, clean and domestic solution to fuel poverty.

A nationally unique solution, RREAL has provided more than 400 solar energy systems to low-income households in partnership with community action agencies, the State of Minnesota, Housing and Redevelopment Authority agencies, Habitat for Humanity affiliates, affordable housing providers and tribal communities.

RREAL's Solar Assistance program has been an empowering solution to chronic fuel poverty for over ten years, and as an alternative to conventional energy assistance, our existing program has the potential the change the way in which our nation delivers energy assistance in cold climates.

Position Overview

Project Manager will have overall operational responsibility for engineering, procurement and construction for RREAL Solar Design-build projects.

The project manager is responsible for establishing the schedule and budget of residential, commercial and utility scale solar construction projects. Project manager is further responsible for ensuring that milestones and deliverables are met through the life of the project. The manager could handle multiple projects simultaneously at various stages of development and construction. Projects could be located locally or regionally.

Responsibilities

Design and Engineering:

  • Ensure the ongoing regional design-build excellence, rigorous quality assurance and control evaluation and consistent quality of finance and administration, communications and systems.
  • Manager internal and external resources to facilitate the design and engineering of contracted solar design-build projects.

Procurement:

  • Coordinate with development and engineering to develop preliminary design budget.
  • Prepare bid packages and procure materials and services as necessary.
  • Create project budget based upon quotes and bids and track project costs in existing tools.

Staff Development and Mentoring:

  • Lead, coach, develop and retain REAL Solar's high performance team.
  • Delegate according to need to ensure reasonable work load for all team members.
  • Work with team to create esprit de corps and highly effective work environment.

Construction Project Management:

  • Coordination of installation schedules.
  • Management of staffing to ensure timely completion.
  • Coordination of permitting and regulatory compliance.
  • General and Miscellaneous Project Management Duties.
  • Provide progress reports and other status updates to client and management as required.
  • Maintain project records and databases.
  • Troubleshooting issues related to installations.

Finance:

  • Work with CEO and accounting to manage project finance.
  • Monitor project finance.
  • Prepare necessary project financials.

Qualifications

  • The project manager will be thoroughly committed to RREAL Solar's work.
  • All candidates should have proven leadership, technical and financial competencies.
  • 2 or more years of project management experience in the PV industry.
  • 5 or more years previous experience in project management or construction operations.
  • Experience and understanding of distributed generation solar projects.
  • NABCEP PV installation professional certification preferred.
  • Solid understanding of project management processes.
  • Ability to problem solve both personnel and project issues.
  • Good record-keeping and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel regionally depending on project locations.
  • Advanced technical degree, ideally MBA or MSEM with at least 5 years of intense management experience.
  • Track record of effectively leading outcomes-based team and staff.
  • Ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken and organization to the next stage of growth.
  • Solid understanding of engineering, procurement and construction industry.
  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven evaluation.
