EnerNOC unlocks the full value of energy management for our utility and commercial, institutional, and industrial (C&I) customers by reducing real-time demand for electricity, increasing energy efficiency, improving energy supply transparency in competitive markets, and mitigating emissions. We accomplish this by delivering world-class energy management applications including DemandSMARTTM, comprehensive demand response; EfficiencySMARTTM, data-driven energy efficiency; SupplySMARTTM, energy price and risk management; and CarbonSMARTTM, enterprise carbon management.

Our Energy Network Operations Center (EnerNOC) supports these applications across thousands of C&I customer sites throughout the world. Using our C&I customers' energy usage flexibility, we make capacity, energy, ancillary services, and carbon products available to grid operators and our more than 100 utility customers on demand as a cost-effective alternative to traditional power generation, transmission, and distribution. 

Position Overview:

EnerNOC has an immediate need for Project Managers to support our operations from Boise, Idaho.  Project Managers provide oversight and relationship management for high-visibility energy management hardware and software deployment projects.  Each assignment will require the coordination among multiple parties including the customer, electrical contractors, electricity marketplace administrators, permitting and regulatory officials, and EnerNOC staff.  You will be required to become familiar with rules and regulations in electricity markets as necessary.

Candidates will have a track record of successfully managing multiple parallel short- and long-term projects while communicating project status and expectations both in and out of the organization. Strong communication skills, attention to detail and follow-up is essential to the success of this role, and candidates must possess a minimum of 3 years of proven experience in related roles.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the customer experience at EnerNOC, including assistance with energy management, installation of EnerNOC site server hardware/software at customer facilities, and continual customer communication as part of multiple, multi-faceted demand response and other energy management projects
  • Supervise the work of construction, electrical, permitting, and other subcontractors
  • Work with the field operations team to optimize metering configurations and identifying additional energy management opportunities to best serve our customers
  • Understand contractual and regulatory issues relating to the regional grid operator, our customers, and other parties
  • Troubleshoot various hardware, firmware and software components related to energy management including but not limited to networking devices, and control & monitoring systems
  • Other duties related to distributed generation, energy auditing, and energy efficiency services as requested
  • Represent a team who strives for Operational Excellence and first-class Customer Service; effective communication skills are critical and required

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications/Skills/Education:

  • BA/BS in engineering, sciences, statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, business or other related fields
  • A minimum of 3 years experience specifically relating to energy management or energy systems through consulting, project or construction management, or other relevant experience
  • A proven track record demonstrating the ability to work in a fast paced, forward moving environment with the ability to quickly learn new technology
  • Outstanding communication skills with the proven ability to utilize these skills across groups inside and outside the organization
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to apply creativity and objectivity while solving technical problems
  • Ability to travel as needed

Desired Qualifications/Skills/Education:

  • Strong understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts as evidenced through a combination of education and experience
  • General working knowledge of microprocessor-based embedded systems, relational databases, and computer networking concepts including wireless communications
  • Proven track record of communicating business requirements to technical engineering staff and communicating technical information to non-technical staff, business partners, and customers
  • Electrical or other engineering, design, or project contracting experience
  • Certified Energy Manager certification is a benefit but not required
