The Company has three business units: the SunOpta Food Group, which specializes in sourcing, processing and distribution of natural and organic food products integrated from seed through packaged products; the Opta Minerals Group, a producer, distributor, and recycler of environmentally friendly industrial materials; and the SunOpta BioProcess Group which engineers and markets proprietary steam explosion technology systems for the pulp, bio-fuel and food processing industries. Each of these business units has proprietary products and services that give it a solid competitive advantage in its sector.
Organic Ingredients is a company within the Fruit Division.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Manage purchase contracts
- Manage a group of ingredient vendors
- Source and evaluate new ingredients vendors
- Coordinate deliveries of assigned ingredients with logistics
- Coordinate documentation of purchases for QA, AP and inventory
- Assist with annual and routine planning and analysis of inventory demand seasonality matrix
Key qualifications for the ideal candidate include:
- Experience in the organic food industry with knowledge of growers, manufacturers and marketers
- Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience
- Proficiency with the MS suite and familiarity with accounting and Oracle software
- Proven track record of successful vendor management
- Excellent communication and record keeping skills
