~ Global Resource Options, Inc. (groSolar) is a privately owned company, which provides turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solar photovoltaic (PV) projects for developers, financiers, utlities, and commercial, government, and other institutional clients. ~
groSolar has designed, built, installed, and procured equipment for more than 100 MW of solar PV systems across the US with more than 2,000 installations. groSolar also provides operation and maintenance (O&M) services for solar PV system owners.
Position Overview
The Project Engineer is a key member of the project EPC team who supports the Project Manager in planning, technical support, and supervision related to the EPC process of commercial and industrial solar PV projects. This position works at EPC job sites and the company offices.
The Project Engineer will support the following functions: health and safety, quality control, design review, estimating and budget preparation, purchasing and contract administration, and construction management. The Project Engineer reports to the Project Manager or Director of Project Management.
Responsibilities
Specific Areas of Responsibility:
- Support management of on-site construction of solar PV projects to conform to the design and contract documents and the national and local building codes including the National Electric Code.
- Support, plan, schedule, and execute the installation of solar PV projects to meet project schedules. Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in developing the project schedule, track the schedule, and confirm the availability of material to maintain the schedule.
- Support tasks related to management of subcontractors and vendors.
- Prepare equipment and subcontractor Request for Proposal (RFP) documents, evaluate bids and proposals, prepare Purchase Orders and Subcontractor Contracts.
- Support the Project Director/Project Manager in the preparation of the EPC construction budget. Participate as requested in budget review meetings with senior management.
- Support safe work practices including OSHA standards, company safety programs, and policies relative to the installation of these systems. Support enforcement of safety standards established by the client and the company to manage risk and achieve safety and health goals of no incidents and no lost time due to injury and no property damage.
- Support Project Manager directives and assignments related to quality control, commissioning, and completion.
- Manage coordination with interconnecting utility.
- Prepare meeting notes and action status reports at the direction of the Project Manager.
- Represents the company as a job site representative to the project stakeholders including client, utility, authorities having jurisdiction, and community members. Interact with integrity, always displaying a professional appearance and attitude.
- Able and willing to travel, subject to the company travel policy, to include overnight stays when needed or if required.
- Coordinate with Operations & Maintenance team at project commissioning and close-out.
- Support Project Manager with regard to document control, design review, product literature review and approval, interconnection agreement implementation, model codes review and regulations.
- Updating CPM schedules and two-week look-ahead schedules.
- Assures change orders are coordinated and tracked.
- Maintain project contact lists and responsibilities of each.
- Contract drawing/document control logs and distributions.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of commercial electrical design and construction practices. Read, interpret and manage construction contracts.
- Demonstrated some knowledge of commercial and/or industrial building systems.
- Computer skills including MS Office 365 and Outlook.
- Knowledge of OSHA Construction Safety Requirements.
- Project management software, with ability to manage files, create and update reports and schedules.
- Planning, scheduling, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Adaptable and able to set and re-evaluate priorities frequently.
- Very good written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to communicate with project team and make recommendations and decisions.

- Controls, communications and low voltage experience preferred.
Experience and Education Requirements:
- College degree: BS Engineering, Construction Management, or physical science.
- Building trades experience, preferred.
Licenses or Certifications:
- NABCEP certification desired or ability and willingness to achieve certification.
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record required.
- Safety Training (OSHA 10-Hour Certification or OSHA 30-Hour Certification).
- First Aid/CPR training.
- Project Management training; preferred.
Physical Environment:
- Outdoor construction sites, year round.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
