Description
We are currently looking for a project engineer with experience in water re-use and living walls beginning on a contract basis to work with a small sustainable design firm.
The Hyphae Design Lab is a small design and engineering firm specializing in living systems and sustainable architecture. We design rainwater harvesting systems, graywater systems, constructed wetlands, and stormwater management plans in the Bay Area. We also consult on living roofs, living walls and ecological architecture across the country. We are currently looking for a project engineer with experience in this arena to work with us on various projects, beginning on a contract basis. These projects range from residential graywater systems to large scale commercial and municipal projects.
Responsibilities:
- Project engineering
- Drafting and design review
- Stormwater management plan preparation
- Developing reports and presentations with the help of other team members
- Project management
- Engineering Calculations including but not limited to grading and drainage
- Stormwater Modeling
- Attending client meetings
Qualifications:
An ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years working the field and the following experience:
- Excellent self motivation and organizational skills
- Basic drafting experience (with AutoCAD or ideally Vectorworks)
- Experience using spreadsheet and word programs (preferably IWork)
- Hands on Knowledge of construction/plumbing/engineering
- Experience preparing SWPPP's plans
- Experience with Ecological Engineering
- Low Impact Development (LID) and Sustainable Stormwater Management Strategies
- Experience with environmental/living systems and design
- Be a licensed civil or structural engineer
- ARCSA accredited a plus
- Experience with stomrwater and wastewater modeling software a plus
Compensation: This is a part-time to full-time job that will begin on a contract basis. Compensation is negotiable and based on the project. We are located in West Oakland, a few blocks from the BART station.
