Position Overview   

Brightworks is seeking an experienced, qualified Project Coordinator to join our Bay Area team. This position is located in Oakland, California. The employee filling this position will work closely with a team of project managers, and will report directly to Brightworks' Principal Heath Blount.  

Position Purpose:

The Project Coordinator position performs important project management tasks and green building design analyses for the implementation and certification of projects under the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating systems and other like green building and sustainability programs.

Work includes management and consulting on green building and sustainability planning projects in the Oakland area and throughout the United States. The work will primarily support LEED v3 Building Design + Construction and Existing Buildings Operations + Maintenance projects.  

Responsibilities 

Job Description: 

  • Attend and/or facilitate project team meetings, contribute to discussion and/or take notes
  • Host team meetings for project coordination items
  • Coordinate design team member responsibilities
  • Prepare and distribute LEED updates for project teams
  • Review project designs for compliance with LEED requirements
  • Research for projects
  • Oversee the LEED submittal process
  • Tracking and documentation for projects in LEED Online
  • Assist in project documentation by performing calculations and analysis of design
  • Task-specific (credit specific) support on projects
  • Resolve outstanding project issues
  • Peer Reviews of other Project Manager's projects
  • Update project documentation based on meetings and notes
  • Reviewing and assisting with Proposals
  • Master Planning and other non-LEED project support: This includes working directly under Senior Project Managers doing research, analysis, written reports/deliverables, and attending meetings 

Qualifications 

  • This position requires previous experience on multiple LEED projects. 

Additional Qualifications: 

  • Accreditation and prior experience working with the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating systems
  • Bachelor's degree with a preference for a degree in engineering, architecture, environmental science, or other related fields
  • Demonstrable exposure to topics and concepts related to sustainability
  • Skilled at using Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
