Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant to provide organizational, programmatic, and project support to the Associate Vice President for the West Coast. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual seeking a position in a progressive and respected environmental organization.
The Assistant will work directly with the Associate VP. In this capacity, the Assistant will have interactions at the highest levels of the organization including program directors and other senior staff in the Western Regional offices, as well as in Washington, DC and New York. This position will provide the ideal candidate with a tremendous opportunity to learn how ED operates and how programs are developed and implemented.
The ideal candidate must be persistent and flexible, extremely detail-oriented, and able to work productively under pressure. This position requires a high degree of professionalism and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one executive level support to the Associate Vice President.
* Conduct high-level research and produce summary memos or reports, prepare agendas, correspondence, emails, power point presentations, etc.
* Assist with production and quality control of outgoing work products and correspondence.
* Liaise with the Executive Assistant to track, coordinate, adjust, and manage the very full and fluid schedule of the Associate VP, including internal and external meetings, appointments, calls, deadlines and travel.
* Anticipate and assist in resolving situations without continuous guidance.
* Assist with event planning and organizing for a variety of meetings and functions.
* Provide general program support.
Desired Qualifications: The successful applicant will have the following minimum qualifications.
* A bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in a field related to environmental science, economics, or public policy.
* Previous experience coordinating and scheduling events for a defined organization, team, or group.
* Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
* Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
* Competence in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
* Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
* Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and multi-task.
* Willingness to travel.
* Non-profit experience a plus.
In addition, applicants should have a strong passion for environmental and social issues.
