Description

The Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that supports voluntary energy efficiency programs that help reduce energy consumption in the U.S. and Canada. The work CEE does can contribute to positive environmental and economic benefits and support energy independence goals.

CEE members include utilities, statewide and regional market transformation administrators, environmental groups, research organizations and state energy offices in the U.S. and Canada. Members serve customers in 43 U.S. States and 6 Canadian Provinces and expend more than $7 billion annually on efficiency programs.

Position Overview: 

CEE is seeking an enthusiastic individual to lead a committee of energy efficiency program managers seeking to achieve more natural gas savings in residential space heating. The individual hired will also collaborate on residential water heating and commercial space heating projects.

Depending on the skills and experience of the individual hired, this position can be either a Program Associate or Program Manager. The individual will be part of the Gas Program Team and report to the Senior Program Manager, Natural Gas. 

Responsibilities: 

Typical Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Program Associate will assist with and Program Manager will facilitate regular committee meetings of utility, government, advocate and other stakeholders via teleconference, in-person, and virtual extranet platform. Program Associate will present research, while a Program Manager will be expected to develop agendas and facilitate committee meetings.
  • Build consensus among CEE members and other stakeholders on approaches to accelerate market acceptance of energy efficient products and services.
  • Assess current market conditions and energy savings opportunities
  • Recruit organizations to incorporate recommended approaches into their local program efforts.
  • Write professional papers, initiative descriptions, program guides and meeting notes.
  • Monitor relevant technology, market, policy, and other industry developments.
  • Program Manager will build alliances with key market players (e.g. manufacturers, distributors, associations, etc.).
  • Program Manager will recommend strategies for affecting national markets for space and water heating products
  • Program Manager will represent CEE in public settings.

Qualifications: 

Requirements for Program Associate:

  • A graduate degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g. BA/BS including graduate coursework, honors thesis or significant applicable employment experience). Studies in engineering, economics, marketing, public policy or environmental studies are preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated research skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Willingness to travel (averaging approximately one trip quarterly)
  • Knowledge of the HVAC or plumbing industry is preferred but not required

Recommended Skills for Program Manager:

Must meet all requirements for Program Associate, in addition:

  • 2 - 3 years of relevant work experience in a professional work environment
  • Experience analyzing market motivations and dynamics
  • Strategic aptitude (i.e. the ability to recognize opportunities and craft appropriate responses).
  • Ability to effectively work with groups and individuals to achieve consensus
  • Ability to manage workload across multiple projects
  • Strong oral communication skills
