Position Overview:
Share your knowledge and your talents with kids! Work in a fun and interactive before-and-after school environment providing quality program delivery to School Age Programs or Center Programs within the Camp Fire Alaska youth development framework. This is a great job for someone who likes to see kids develop and reach their full potential. Work hours are typically Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 9:00 am and again at 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm but may vary based on location.
Responsibilities:Our core values include:
- Provides a stable, fun, caring, learning environment for the program
- Plans and conducts age appropriate program and activities with assigned group of children
- Participates in daily set up and clean up of program site
- Supervises children during activities
- Works individually with children requiring special attention or who have special needs
- Daily preparation such as: getting out supplies, setting up for activities, checking schedules, etc.
- Cleans-up after activities and at the end of the day
- Follows established behavioral expectations and discipline procedures
- Provides daily snack and breakfast according to CACFP guidelines
- Provides for the maximum possible health, safety, and well being of all persons involved in the program
- Maintains facility and equipment in excellent and safe condition
- Maintains positive relations with parents, school personnel, including prior approval of supervisor for contact with administrators and teachers regarding the facility and children
- Maintains child care licensing requirements and standards
- Maintains confidentiality of official records
- Participates in staff meetings, conferences, and workshops as assigned by supervisor with a minimum of 24 hours is required each year
- Submits reports and records on time as assigned by supervisor
- Special program assignments such as parent events and program wide events
- Keeps supervisor informed of plans, problems, concerns, and successes.
- Exemplifies the Council's value statements, vision and mission in all actions, communications and relationships
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience working successfully with children in a group setting
- Training or experience in youth development, education or recreation
- Demonstrated basic work habits, dependability, and reliability
- Demonstrated leadership or organizational ability
- Completion of high school or equivalent
- Experience in youth development field with school age youth may be substituted for educational requirements
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Possesses adequate vision, hearing acuity, physical ability, strength and stamina to perform the required responsibilities of activities associated with program delivery
- Ability to lift 35 pounds
- Work environment involves infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements
