Description

World Wildlife Fund, the global conservation organization, seeks a Program Officer for its Sustainable Seafood Initiative (SSI) to plan, manage, communicate, and implement program priorities and activities for the SSI. 

Responsibilities: 

Primary responsibilities include programmatic work relevant to the development and implementation of seafood business relationships, namely source fishery assessment work and fishery improvement efforts. Also develops and plans projects for the SSI with the WWF-US priority marine place programs, and other environmental organizations, as appropriate. 

Responds to requests for oral and written information; works directly with project personnel, grantees, donors, consultants, and others to facilitate coordination, communication, and regular reporting; involved with outreach to donors from corporate, non-profit, and governmental sectors.  This position will be physically located in our Palo Alto, California office. 

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree is required and 5 years relevant experience (program mgmt, biodiversity, natural resources mgmt).  A graduate degree in natural resources management, environmental science, international development, conservation policy or a related field is strongly preferred. 

Must have strong organizational, project management, and analytical skills.  Ability to work independently, build solid relationships with both businesses and NGOs, advocate for WWF, exercise assertiveness.  Ability to work in a timely manner on initiatives with multiple and competing priorities is critical.   Diplomacy and cultural sensitivity are essential.
