The Consortium for Energy Efficiency develops and supports U.S. and Canadian initiatives to accelerate market adoption of advanced energy-efficient products and services. Members of the Consortium include utilities, statewide and regional market transformation administrators, environmental groups, research organizations and state energy offices in the United States and Canada. Members serve more than one half of the U.S. and one third of the Canadian populations, and expend more than $2 billion annually on efficiency programs.
CEE is seeking an enthusiastic individual to support its commercial building energy efficiency initiatives. The individual will be part of a program team working with another manager and associate, and reporting to the Senior Commercial Program Manager. The individual will have responsibility for development and ongoing support of North American efficiency initiatives. This individual will lead CEE members through a committee process to identify and pursue energy efficient building technologies and management opportunities.
In addition to having a well-rounded set of professional skills, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a knowledge of:
1) commercial building systems and technologies;
2) management decision-making processes and how these may be influenced;
3) facilitation and consensus building skills; and
4) familiarity with the industries that support commercial building construction and operation.
Job Responsibilities Include:
1. Convene regular meetings of utility, government, advocate and other stakeholders to develop, discuss and evaluate commercial building technologies and program opportunities of mutual interest (e.g., commercial lighting and heating, ventilation and cooling systems).
2. Support consensus building among CEE members and other industry and government stakeholders on approaches to accelerate market acceptance of energy-efficient products and services.
3. Develop program plans containing assessments of current market conditions, savings opportunities, recommended strategies for affecting national markets and recommended approaches for inclusion in field implementation plans.
4. Recruit organizations to incorporate recommended approaches into their local program efforts.
5. Assist in building alliances with key market players (e.g., manufacturers, distributors, associations, etc.) for improved initiative effectiveness.
6. Author professional papers.
7. Monitor relevant policy, legislative and other industry developments.
8. Assist in defining CEE policy, recruiting new members and promoting the merits of market transformation and CEE.
9. Represent CEE in public settings.
Requirements:
* A graduate degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field (engineering, building science, architecture, natural science or environmental sciences are preferred)
* A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a relevant field (engineering, environmental or energy consulting, research and development, energy management) * Ability to understand market motivations and dynamics
* Strategic aptitude
* Ability to work independently
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to lead groups and individuals to consensus
* Willingness to travel (averaging approximately 1 trip quarterly)
