The Master of Science in Environmental Management (MSEM) Program at the University of San Francisco (USF) invites applications for a new Program Manager / Faculty member. The full-time, term faculty position will contribute both management and teaching in our thriving, professionally-oriented Masters program. The anticipated start date is Spring 2012.

Position Overview:

The MSEM program has a rich history of educating a workforce to manage current and emerging environmental challenges. We seek a candidate with experience and vision to support program operation and strengthen outreach, as well as the expertise to contribute teaching. Duties are expected to be roughly two-thirds program management and one-third teaching (16 units of program management and 8 units of teaching per year), with opportunity for adjustment based on program needs and candidate interests.

As Program Manager for MSEM, the position will work in close coordination with the academic Graduate Program Director to engage in: recruitment; application and admission activities; advising and mentoring of current students; and strengthening alumni and professional networks of the MSEM program.

As Faculty in the MSEM program, the candidate is expected to teach 8 units per year, in at least one area of environmental science and management (area of specialization is open). We invite candidates to find out more about the MSEM curriculum and program on our website.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a mix of strong management and interpersonal skills, professional work experience in the environmental field, and teaching experience. The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in an area of environmental science, engineering, planning or management. Candidates with an M.S. degree and significant professional experience are welcome to apply.

To Apply:

Consideration of applications will begin 21 November 2011, and continue until the position is filled. The preferred start date is 21 January 2012; actual start date may be tailored to the successful candidate.

Applicants should submit: (i) a cover letter summarizing interests and qualifications; (ii) curriculum vitae, (iii) a list of 3 references, including name, title, telephone, e-mail address, and mail address; (iv) a statement of teaching philosophy and interests, and evidence of teaching ability (e.g., sample syllabi, teaching evaluations); and (v) one sample of your professional or research work.
