The AIA+2030 Series is a 40-hour professional education program that helps design professionals create buildings that meet the ambitious energy efficiency goals of the 2030 Challenge. The program was developed in collaboration with Architecture 2030, Better Bricks, and the City of Seattle. Based on its local success, AIA Seattle and its partners plan to replicate the program at AIA chapters across the country, using the program as a platform to significantly impact climate change and position Northwest architects and designers as leaders on energy and carbon issues

Position Overview: 

The AIA+2030 Program Manager is a mid-level position responsible for development of a national syndication and funding plan, as well as continued delivery of the AIA+2030 program to a Seattle audience. This position is part-time, 30 hours per week, and is funded for one year, with the possibility of long-term employment if the program is successful.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning and execution of local, regional and national components of the AIA+2030 program.
  • Curates, develops, manages and produces AIA+2030 as a local education series.
  • Develops a model for regional and national replication, and supports a robust national roll-out.
  • Collaborates with key program partners and advisory committee members, and develops new strategic partnerships.
  • Helps develop ongoing funding opportunities and a long-term economic model for the program.
  • Represents AIA+2030 and the leadership of Seattle designers on energy efficiency and carbon reduction to regional and national stakeholders.
  • Act as a local and national leader and spokesperson for the AIA+2030 program and the carbon-reduction goals it supports
  • Collaborate with our organizational partners and advisory committee to continue to produce and deliver ten AIA+2030 education sessions a year, plus a possible fall 3- or 4-day intensive.
  • Develop relationships with AIAs in other cities interested in replicating the AIA+2030 program.
  • Finalize curriculum and marketing package to share with other chapters, develop resources including a speaker network and case studies, and develop training for chapter leaders.
  • Oversee a robust national roll-out of the program. 
  • Explore funding options including national sponsorship, federal support and other sources.

Qualifications:

  • Passionate commitment to energy and carbon reduction in buildings
  • Working knowledge of sustainable design principles; degree in architecture or engineering preferred
  • Collaborative leadership style
  • Entrepreneurial nature, business and financial planning skills
  • Strategic thinking
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Personable and team-oriented
  • Effective meeting facilitator
  • Eager to build and nurture relationships
  • Ability to thrive in a small, non-profit atmosphere
  • Requires BA Degree or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of related experience in green building design and/or sustainability education
  • Knowledge of and connections to sustainable design industry
  • Experience with managing volunteers is preferred
  • Proficient in Office 2003 suite
