FishWise (FW) is a non-profit organization based in Santa Cruz that joins business imperatives with leading ocean conservation strategies. Our primary approach is to develop programs that improve the sustainability and financial performance of seafood retailers, distributors, and producers.
Position Overview:
A FW Program Manager's primary responsibility is to successfully implement FW programs at new FW member retailer stores, and maintain relationships with existing FW member retailers and distributors. The Program Manager (PM) is the main customer service contact for stores with questions or needs after the launch of the FW program.
The PM must ensure proper ongoing program implementation through monthly calls, emails, audit assessments and audit reviews with member store staff. Also, many organizational and media needs are taken on by the PM through digital and hardcopy filing, development and publishing of materials, website updates, and data entry.
Responsibilities:
- Implement the FW program in new stores by establishing primary contacts, delivery of materials, consistent communication, initial and ongoing staff training, and assistance with signage development
- Place monthly calls to the seafood management of all member stores
- Assess store audits and review assessments with all member store seafood managers to improve accurate ongoing implementation (3/year)
- Organize and file audits and other store specific material in both digital and hardcopy form.
- Enter all communications with partners into Salesforce
- Update, order, and have printed all program materials, including the species flowcharts. Compile and ship to all member stores. Organize digital files.
- Update and develop new promotional materials. Print and collate as needed. Organize digital files.
- Assist with research of and networking for product sourcing
- Provide weekly editing of FishWise distributor partner market updates
- Update the FishWise website per Operations Director request and oversight
- Serve as an IT and office equipment resource
- Consistent and clear communication with the Operations Director and response to his/her needs. Respond to the needs of the Business Development and Executive Director as they arise. Respond to the needs of the Science Director as time allows.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree with relevance to the organization and position. Graduate students or Masters preferred but not required.
- Clear understanding of seafood sustainability criteria and sustainable seafood stakeholders such as supply chain businesses, ENGOs, and government agencies
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator fluency
- Strong communication skills and reliability
- Willingness to travel when necessary by individual means (infrequent)
- Full-time position requires a minimum of 30 hrs/wk
Compensation: Pay starts at $15/hour with potential increases following 6 month performance appraisal. Benefits such as paid leave and medical insurance accrue at 30 hrs/wk
