The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) supports early-stage research and development in three technology areas: photovoltaics (PV), concentrating solar-thermal power (CSP), and systems integration with the goal of improving the affordability, reliability, and domestic benefit of solar technologies on the grid.

Position Overview
SETO is hiring a Program Manager to lead the manufacturing and competitiveness team, which supports groundbreaking, early-stage solar technology concepts to move them toward readiness for greater private sector investment and scale-up to commercialization.
Note: This position is at the GS-15 level.
The team utilizes prize programs, which leverage American innovation and competitive spirit to advance economic growth and energy security, as well as other competitive funding opportunities and national laboratories to support domestic companies and entrepreneurs in advancing and validating their ideas for innovative solar products.
Responsibilities
- The program manager is responsible for managing a team of technology managers and contract staff, as well as a portfolio of research and development programs with an annual budget of $60 million (pending appropriations).
- Responsibilities include planning, budgeting, developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating initiatives, and communicating their objectives to industry stakeholders in workshops, seminars, and conferences.
Qualifications
- Have a passion for solar energy technologies and the energy system
- Communicate in both private and public speaking in a clear, effective, and engaging manner
- Be a thought leader in the solar industry
- Demonstrate prior management experience
- Have a degree or significant coursework in physical science or engineering
- Be willing to be based in Washington, D.C.
