Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Program Leader, Finance is to manage the day-to-day activities of the program(s) for which he/she is responsible. The Program Leader is responsible for and ultimately accountable for planning, directing, coordinating, and implementing all phases of assigned program(s). The Program Leader is expected to achieve program goals in such a way that it meets the present needs of the program and organization without compromising the ability of the organization to meet its future needs.

Program goals and objectives are achieved through a combination of direct efforts as well as influencing the behavior of individuals or groups outside of traditional organizational boundaries. In executing their role, each program leader is expected to exude positive energy, energize others, demonstrate the courage to make tough decisions, and demonstrate the ability to execute.

The Program Leader, Finance will research, develop, evaluate, and present projects (which include program related investments and other business opportunities) to the President. This individual will be responsible for cultivating PRI opportunities and maintaining an active pipeline as well as maintaining knowledge of various state/local loan and grant funding opportunities.

The Program Leader, Finance will represent SEF at various speaking engagements as well as establishing and maintaining a series of SEF sales/educational seminars and third party distribution channel.

The Program Leader, Finance is also expected to monitor and coach the performance of interns assigned to programs for which he or she is responsible.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Plan, organize and execute program activities to achieve goals and objectives;
  • Research, develop, evaluate, monitor, and close business opportunities that are synchronous with the mission and strategy of the SEF;
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of various state/local loan and grant funding opportunities;
  • Establish and maintain a third party distribution channel; Establish a series of sales and financial education seminars to build networking opportunities;
  • Provide deal structure information and requirements to prospective borrower;
  • Represent SEF at various speaking opportunities;
  • Identify industry trends, emerging technologies, governmental regulation changes and/or issues related to renewable energy technology;  
  • Assist the Program Related Investment Analysts to obtain the information necessary to evaluate investment opportunities; and
  • The employee is also expected to perform such other duties and functions as required from time to time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or finance field.
  • Experience in financial, accounting, and banking.
  • Experience in energy/environmental industry preferred.
  • Exceptional writer and communicator.
  • Capable of successfully building relationships, negotiating, and collaborating with diverse audiences including designers, engineers, state and local officials, utility personnel, etc.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with sound business judgment.
  • Creative, strategic, and analytical thinker, with strong detail orientation.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects through to completion, often under tight deadlines and with minimal supervision.
  • Resourceful, highly motivated self-starter who can thrive in a "lean" organization, taking initiative to maximize available resources and opportunities.
  • Team player with strong work ethic and the desire to make a long-term, professional commitment to the SEF and its continued growth.
  • Willingness to travel for industry/government/energy-related meetings or conferences; for off-site meetings or presentations with partners/collaborators; and/or for relevant training/seminars for ongoing professional development.
  • Proficient in MS office, CRM database management.
  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Computer, basic office equipment (copier, calculator, fax, etc.) 

Working Conditions:

  • 50% Office Environment
