Position Overview:
Position: Field Representative / Public Service Co. of New Mexico (PNM) Residential ENERGY STAR Lighting Program
Reports To: Larry Gould / New Mexico Program Field Manager
Territory: PNM service territory in Albuquerque, Sante Fe, Rio Rancho, Las Vegas, Deming, NM and outlying areas
General Responsibilities:
The overall responsibilities include, but are not limited to, representing the PNM Residential ENERGY STAR Lighting Program, the sponsoring authority (PNM), and APT in a professional and responsible manner. Position requires conducting retailer store visits to support the PNM Residential ENERGY STAR Lighting Program. Representative is responsible for ensuring the enthusiastic participation of retailers, maintaining detailed records, working within a team environment and adhering to APT protocols, procedures and policies.
Specific Short/Long Term Responsibilities:
1. Conduct retailer site visits and fill out call report data sheets.
- Provide consistent program updates at each location.
- Conduct ENERGY STAR training sessions for all appropriate employees & follow up training as necessary or requested.
- Supply retailers with ENERGY STAR Point-of-Purchase (POP) material, retailer manual and qualified product lists, updated as necessary.
- Answer questions relating to the Program.
2. Participate in weekly conference call with Program Manager & Coordinator.
3. Make daily phone calls to APT Program Coordinator.
4. Make recommendations that will enhance our delivery of services.
5. Ensure that all services are performed with the highest level of expediency and efficiency.
6. Other duties as assigned.
Program Field Representatives are charged with the responsibility to contact retailers to explain the Program, enlist their participation, and provide a variety of support activities to participating retailers and utilities. These support activities include, but are not limited to:
Retailer Training
Training sessions for retailers are scheduled and conducted according to the individual retailer's needs and schedules. These sessions may range form informal discussions with sales staff at small retailers to full scale presentations at sales meetings in a large chain outlet. In every instance, salespeople are provided with a complete understanding of the PNM Residential ENERGY STAR Lighting Program to ensure their familiarity with the Program's goals and benefits.
Training Sessions include:
- Details on the purpose of the incentives.
- Demonstrations of using the POP materials.
- Retailer's responsibility for proper use of POP material.
- Explanation of the benefits of the promotion for participating retailers, salespeople and customers.
- Product specific information on energy efficient lighting, appliances and other home products .
- The "How-To" of presenting energy efficiency information to the customer.
Point Of Purchase (POP) Material Delivery & Placement
Program Field Representatives assist retailers in identifying products that are included in the Promotion. The Field Representatives deliver and assist in placing POP material in specified areas. During the course of their routine visits Field Representatives need to ensure that POP material is adequately supplied and properly displayed. In addition the Field Representative is responsible for ensuring that promotional product has been received by the retail location and ensuring that product in receiving or storage gets to the sales floor for appropriate placement.
In-Store Promotions
Program Field Representatives may be required to provide retailers with in-store promotional events. These events entail Field Representatives setting up displays and demonstration tools to educate consumers on the benefits of ENERGY STAR products. Where appropriate, Field Representatives assist store personnel in actually selling products during these promotions.
General Program & Retailer Support
On a regular basis Field Representatives conduct retailer visits. The purpose of these visits is to ensure that participating retailers are displaying the promotion appropriately and that they are staying actively involved. In addition, these ongoing visits provide the opportunity to:
- Answer retailer & sales staff questions or concerns that relate to the Program.
- Obtain feedback on customer reaction to the Program.
- Deliver and assist in setting up POP displays and ensure that POP material is well stocked and used correctly.
- Alert retailers of upcoming Program sponsored promotions.
- Provide details on changes within the Program.
- Fill out required paperwork specific to Program data reporting needs.
Requirements:
Experience
- 3 years experience in sales, customer service, or related industry.
- Computer experience including; word-processing and solid Microsoft office skills required.
- Excellent communication skills - verbal & written.
- Excellent training/ presentation skills.
- Interest in environmental/conservation field a plus.
