Responsibilities / Scope of Position


An
enthusiastic, forward-thinking Program Director is key to Solar 4R Schools’
growing success.  The Program Director
provides hands-on leadership for all aspects of the program including:
 

  • Setting Strategic Direction: In conjunction with staff and
    other organization leaders, assess market information, funding opportunities,
    and resource capabilities in order to devise and implement strategic plans for
    program growth and sustainability.
  • Being a Program Ambassador: Develop and maintain partnerships
    with current funders and clients; seek out and develop partnerships with new funders
    and program recipients; represent Solar 4R Schools at conferences, trade shows
    and other forums.
  • Implementing Program Services: In conjunction with staff, support
    the development of in-classroom activities and materials, conduct teacher
    trainings and provide other program services.
  • Managing Program Operations: Provide hands-on management of
    program operations including managing staff and vendor relationships,
    developing and managing program budgets, and managing materials inventory. 

Note: The successful candidate will be self-motivated with an
entrepreneurial spirit, able to build partnerships, lead projects, and inspire
others. This is a highly collaborative role requiring the ability to work
effectively with a wide variety of experts including internal technical and
sales staff, corporate and utility partners, school administrators,
corporations, teachers, and foundations. 

Qualifications

Required Experience & Skills - The
following qualifications are critical to success in this position:
  

  • 3-5 years experience as a manager or
    director of a non-profit program, with demonstrable abilities to provide
    strategic direction, build external partnerships, manage and collaborate with a
    small staff, manage budgets and deliver high quality program services.
  • Significant experience and knowledge
    of STEM education, renewable energy, solar power or other relevant subject
    matter.
  • Demonstrable success in program
    development and fundraising.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Ability to think strategically and
    apply strategic insights to advancing the long-term goals and development of
    the program.
  • Personal qualities that reflect the
    program’s core values: Responsibility, Technical Accuracy around STEM and
    energy themes, Impartiality, Conscientiousness, Supportiveness, Sustainability,
    and Quality/Value.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and
    the ability to maintain a positive collaborative relationship among staff,
    funders and key clients and stakeholders.
  • Tech and web savvy with ability to
    learn quickly.
