Description
~ Earthwatch's mission is to engage people worldwide in scientific field research and education to promote a sustainable environment ~
Every year Earthwatch awards grants of over $6 million in support of as many as 70 research projects around the world. These grants are partly funded by volunteers from the general public and our partner organizations who sign up for expeditions to join our scientists as research assistants. This model provides essential funding for long-term research and a workforce of committed volunteers.
Earthwatch fellowships enable critical partners to participate in research expeditions worldwide. Each year, Earthwatch's Fellowship Programs enable hundreds of students, teachers, conservation professionals and corporate employees to join expeditions at little or no out-of-pocket expense. Earthwatch Fellows are emissaries of the Earthwatch mission, sharing their experiences and new knowledge with thousands of students, teachers, and colleagues upon their return.
