Position Summary:

The Program Coordinator will help plan, implement, and fund Parks for People New England's mission. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for managing projects and assisting others within the Parks for People New England Program (P4PNE). This individual will work with urban communities, organizations, neighborhood groups, schools, and other TPL programs and offices, to restore, construct and maintain capital improvements for parks, gardens and school grounds in New England cities.

In carrying out this work, the Program Coordinator will work in close collaboration with other TPL staff, including those on state project teams. The Program Coordinator will also provide project management and technical assistance to non-profit and community based groups that are working in partnership with TPL.

This person will also assist in researching and responding to funders' requirements, providing updates to funders and raising funds for P4PNE, and will coordinate with TPL state team staff on specific urban transactions as needed. The Program Coordinator will focus primarily on existing projects in the New England region.

Responsibilities: 

Managing various projects under the direction of the P4PNE Director, including: 

* Community engagement;
* Contract negotiations;
* Design coordination; and
* Oversight of project construction
* Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with partner organizations and other community-based organizations, assisting them with their community support strategies.
* Helping provide vision for the future of the program based on strategic planning.
* Assisting by identifying potential new urban projects and partnership opportunities. 
* Administrative tasks will include adherence to contractual project obligations, including associated reporting requirements, grant reporting, mailings, coordination of programmatic electronic updates, coordination with Advisory Board members and of Advisory Board meetings. 
* Help execute implementation strategy for identified P4PNE initiatives.
* Other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor.

Interaction with Others:

* Frequent interaction with elected officials and community leaders.
* Public speaking is essential to this role.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in fields of planning, landscape architecture, cultural geography, a plus. 
* Requires at least 2 years of experience in or working with community-based organizations. Familiarity working within or with schools a plus.

Organizational Skills:

1. Ability to work on complex assignments independently using a high level of judgment, tact, and initiative in resolving problems and developing recommendations. Ability to prioritize work under deadline key.
2. Ability to work on complex problems where in-depth analysis and judgment is needed to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for results.
3. Provide planning, coordination and other support for public presentations such as, performing background research, preparing narrative reports, tables, charts and presentation graphics, etc.
4. Ability to determine procedures on new assignments and provide guidance to others.
5. Experience managing a budget a plus

Collaboration skills:

1. Ability to collaborate and negotiate with diverse groups and interests in dynamic inner-city environments.
2. Demonstrated ability to function well as a team member. 

* Excellent oral and written communication skills; public speaking experience a plus.
* Proficient in Internet research, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and word processing applications. Web page maintenance skills a plus. GIS proficiency a plus.
* High degree of creativity, vision, and resourcefulness.
* Ability to manage complex projects independently from start to finish with little supervision. 
* Strong marketing ability, as well as an affinity for helping fundraise a plus
* Experience and interest in land transactions a plus. 
* Drivers license required as position may require extensive travel throughout region.
