Position Overview:
The Program Associate, Energy Efficiency, is responsible for providing analytical and programmatic support to the program's senior staff in support of its overall mission which is to work with the UN and other partners to promote widespread deployment of energy efficiency.
Reporting Relationships/Scope:
The Program Associate, Energy Efficiency, is an integral member of the Energy and Climate Team, reports to the Director of International Energy Efficiency and also works closely with Energy and Climate senior staff members, as needed.
Responsibilities:
The Program Associate provides research and programmatic support to the International Energy Efficiency Initiative (IEEI) and Energy and Climate senior staff by performing assigned roles and tasks related to the program's advocacy, campaigns, and initiatives. In particular, s/he:
- Provides research and writing support to the IEEI program on policy and program development and initiatives undertaken or supported by the team; Prepares issue and meeting briefs and progress reports, policy analysis, and position papers on selected topics for both internal and external purposes.
- Supports the IEEI team and collaborates with consultants, if any, on current program priorities related to IEEI work with UN-Energy and other partners in the promotion of energy efficiency internationally.
- Represents UNF at relevant meetings, conferences, workshops, and other events, as directed.
- Participates in the IEEI program's strategic thinking and planning and organizational development.
- As directed, collaborates with the Public Affairs department and Energy and Climate team's Communications Director regarding the team's campaigns, initiatives and strategic communications, including contributing to the preparation of publications and web content.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in engineering, economics or related field; required; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum intern work experience in energy policy, and international affairs.
- Proven analytical and project management skills; ability to move projects forward from inception to implementation to completion.
- Strong communications skills (speaking, writing, editing, and listening); research accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and enjoy effective working relationships with people, internally, across an organization's functions; and, externally, from a wide variety of types of organizations, cultural backgrounds, and with a wide variety of functional expertise.
- Flexibility; self starter; openness to new challenges; team player; ability to thrive under stress and prioritize competing demands; and sense of humor.
- Continuous learning skills and the ability to synthesize information.
- Ability to represent the organization with professionalism, diplomacy and self-confidence; and
- Multi-cultural experience.
Location: UNF is located at 1800 Massachusetts Avenue, Suite 400 in Washington D.C. (Metro: Dupont Circle).
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience. Actual salary will depend on qualifications and anticipated contribution to the Foundation.
UNF pays 100% of medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance premiums for its employees and 75% of medical and vision for employees' dependents.
In addition, UNF provides 20 days of paid vacation per year, 12 paid holidays, 3 personal days per year, an immediately vested 150% matching 403(b) contribution up to a limit of 6% of employee pay, Metro Pass benefits, and flexible spending accounts for health and dependent care.
