Position Overview:

The Program Associate for Energy contributes to the development and management of the energy portfolio in collaboration with the Vice President, Energy and Climate, and other UN Foundation staff.

Reporting Relationships/Scope:

The Program Associate reports to the Vice President, Energy and Climate.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate state initiatives as related to Energy Future Coalition (EFC) campaigns, including the development and implementation of campaign strategies.
  • Act as EFC lead liaison to state and local organizations and governmental offices, including conducting partnership outreach, event planning and strategy development for implementation of state campaigns;
  • Conduct research on behalf of the EFC in areas relating to energy, climate, development and policy issues, especially with regard to energy efficiency and transmission;
  • Collaborate on the development of public affairs strategy and produce written material for Coalition campaigns and Congressional outreach;
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with state and local energy efficiency and transmission organizations.
  • Represent the Coalition and Foundation at outside meetings and professional gatherings;
  • Coordinate events associated with program goals;
  • Assist with the coordination of the work of consultants as needed;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • College degree required in related field.
  • Personal commitment to EFC/UNF's vision and the ability to articulate it to others in a manner that motives them to action.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills required.
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency and transmission policy, a plus.
  • Self starter.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and enjoy effective working relationships with people from a wide variety of organizations and with a wide variety of functional expertise.
  • Previous experience administering and monitoring commitments to and from external partners and other departments.
  • Previous experience developing written materials (analyses, reports, talking points, etc.) for senior executives and members of boards of directors.
  • Campaign organizing experience, a plus.
  • Openness and flexibility.
  • Stress tolerance and resilience.
  • Communications skills (listen, speaking, and writing).
  • Continuous learning skills and the ability to synthesize information.
  • Multi-sector experience.

Location: UNF is located at 1800 Massachusetts Avenue, Suite 400 in Washington D.C. (Metro: Dupont Circle).

Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience.  Actual salary will depend on qualifications and anticipated contribution to the Foundation.

UNF pays 100% of medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance premiums for its employees and 75% of medical and vision for employees' dependents.

In addition, UNF provides 20 days of paid vacation per year, 12 paid holidays, 3 personal days per year, an immediately vested 150% matching 403(b) contribution up to a limit of 6% of employee pay, Metro Pass benefits, and flexible spending accounts for health and dependent care.
