Description
The California Climate Action Registry (the Registry) is the voluntary greenhouse gas (GHG) registry, created as a non-profit public/private partnership, by the State of California, to help protect, encourage, and promote early actions to reduce GHG emissions.
Duties:
To help with our efforts, the Registry is creating a new Program Assistant position.
The Program Assistant will assist the Registrys program staff in developing and enhancing the organizations protocols and technical tools and will play a lead role in working with the Registrys members; the primary responsibilities are outlined below.
This list should be viewed as a starting point, as the position will evolve and grow according to the successful candidates interests and aptitude, and Registry workflow.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & RESEARCH (60%)
Assist the program staff in updating existing protocols
Contribute to the development of new protocols, including:research, synthesis, and writing
Assist with new programmatic initiatives, as appropriate
Complete programmatic research assignments, as requested
Help develop program materials
Manage the approved certifiers and technical assistance providers, providing them with updated information as appropriate
Answer members programmatic questions about the Registry
Provide programmatic information to the public, as necessary -
ADMINISTRATION (40%)
Assist the program staff with various administrative tasks (scheduling phone calls, meetings, events, responding to emails, etc.)
Help coordinate meetings and Registry events
Compile meeting minutes and help to document programmatic activities
Help to prepare programmatic presentations
Proof-read and edit draft documents
Maintain the programmatic portion of the Registrys website
Provide general administrative assistance as necessary
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and characteristics:
- Exceptional research and writing skills
- Ability to digest complicated technical issues and present them in a simple and understandable fashion
- Ability to multi-task and manage time well
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Interest in, or experience working with, GHG/climate change, corporate environmental management, and/or air quality issues preferred
- BA degree (environmental or technical degree preferred) and 2 years of professional experience
- Well versed in internet research and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Team player and quick learner who focuses on high productivity and results
- Professional, friendly, and enthusiastic personality
- Self starter with a proactive attitude who can anticipate needs
- U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.
