Description

PV Powered® is an innovation leader for grid-tied PV inverters in the residential, commercial and utility markets, setting new industry standards in reliability and efficiency.

Position Overview: 

Be a part of a skilled, dedicated team responsible for qualification of cutting edge solar power inverters and related products.

Responsibilities:

  • Eliminate product defects through thoughtful planning and execution of functional tests
  • Develop and execute reliability assurance tests including ALT and HALT
  • Assure compliance of products to industry standards such as UL 1741 and IEEE 1547
  • Test products to applicable state and federal requirements such as California Energy Commission (CEC) efficiency
  • Implement effective practices for identifying software defects
  • Document any issues discovered during qualification testing and communicate those issues to the design team in a clear and concise way
  • Work with design engineers to correct issues discovered during the product qualification process
  • Generate and maintain realistic schedule and budget estimates, and work effectively to them
  • Obtain buy-in for product qualification plans from other groups at PV Powered prior to beginning testing
  • Clearly present the results of product qualification and the status of issues found
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or physics
  • Ability to break large tasks down into manageable pieces and systematically progress to a conclusion in minimal time
  • Experience with embedded systems, and a basic understanding of control system implementations on digital signal processors
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with mechanical and electrical systems
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, suppliers and management
  • Strong analytical skills; able to use applied mathematics including algebra, trigonometry, statistics, and calculus, to complete tasks
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and product specifications
  • Experience with instrumentation and measuring tools such as oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, and calipers
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office product suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Self managed and motivated
  • Team-oriented attitude; works well with others and supports company goals
  • Demonstrated initiative to perform research, condense complicated information into a compact form, and use that information to drive effective action

Additional Desired Skills:

  • Programming skills (C, assembly language.)
  • Experience in the electrical products industry or renewables, specifically PV
  • Ability to adapt to changes in work load and responsibilities.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
