Position Overview

In the role of Produce Manager, you’ll lead a team of produce Specialists & Associates to optimize shelf life and quality of Good Eggs’ produce via proper storage and handling techniques, as well as prepping customer produce orders for shipment. You’ll work alongside the team, triaging issues as they arise while ensuring the tasks that need to be accomplished on the shift are completed accurately, efficiently, and completely.

Our Food Hub operates seven days a week, from 4am to 9pm. The ideal candidate will have flexible availability as we anticipate working days and times will evolve over the coming months.

Responsibilities

Inventory Management:

  • Place orders for produce as needed to fill inventory gaps
  • Practice excellent produce handling to ensure high quality and delicious fresh produce for our customers
  • Inventory cycle counts and FIFO procedures
  • Receiving product and materials into the hub and internal systems
  • Stocking and organizing on-hand product and materials
  • Communicate quality feedback to internal teams and work to find creative solutions to reduce waste
  • Properly receive product as well as greet delivery drivers and farmers who deliver the goods
  • Taste delicious seasonal produce to ensure quality
  • Manage produce storage conditions, systems and equipment to ensure optimal quality and shelf life
  • Manage product staging and storage processes, including overseeing the team members prepping produce to go out to customers

Leadership:

  • Build and optimize schedule for team of 25, working on diverse activities, with shifts spanning 17 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Provide team members with direction and performance feedback on process steps
  • Lead shifts to meet and exceed established metrics for efficiency and accuracy
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for team
  • Supervise other warehouse teams during after-hours or weekend shifts, as needed
  • Help develop and rollout of new process improvements
  • Collect process improvement feedback from the team
  • Hire and onboarding new associates
  • Train, develop and coach associates
  • Review hours, approve overtime and submit time for payroll processing
  • Track and manage associate performance, provide feedback, and take action as appropriate

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent, college degree a plus
  • 3 or more years of produce experience
  • Work in the areas of farming, farmers market, grocery a plus
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • 1 or more years experience as a supervisor / manager
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Time management skills; experience working on a deadline
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills; ability to learn and use inventory management software
