Global Energy Investors, LLC is an exciting new project equity firm investing in operational renewable energy power generation projects.  Founded in 2009, GEI is establishing a Renewable Energy Project Equity (REPE) fund to invest in renewable power projects in the United States.  The REPE fund's target focus is on wholesale distributed generation wind and solar projects that utilize proven technology to generate and sell electrical power to utilities and other commercial users.  GEI expects to achieve an initial financial close of the REPE fund and to commence investment operations in 2010.

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the Principal or Director of Project Investments.  At the Principal level, the ideal candidate will have at least 5 years experience in power project development, private equity, M&A, or energy project finance with experience at a major investment bank, investment fund, and/or lender and top credentials from premier educational institutions.  At the Director level, the ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience as described above. 

Responsibilities: 

The individual will be responsible for the evaluation, structuring and closing of assigned project investment opportunities and for ongoing monitoring of assigned project investments. A Director of Project Investments also will be expected to identify and structure new project investment opportunities. In this position, s/he will participate on the company's Project Investment Committee and may participate in capital raising efforts.  As part of the company's management team, this individual will contribute to the company's overall strategy and corporate financial management. This position will also assist with the investment fund's financial management, including providing analytical and financial/risk analysis support as needed. The role requires strong analytical, project analysis, financial modeling, and due diligence process management skills, as well as a proven ability to interact with senior executives and work as part of a team. This position reports to the Executive Committee with dotted line reporting to the Managing Director of Project Investments.

Qualifications:

  • At the Principal level, minimum of 5 years of professional experience, preferably in at least 2 of the following disciplines: power project development, private equity, M&A, and/or energy project finance with experience at a major investment bank, investment fund, or lender preferred. At the Director level, minimum of 10 years of professional experience as described above.
  • Minimum of 5 years direct experience in the renewable power sector.
  • MBA and/or CFA strongly preferred but other academic credentials will be considered; ideal candidates also will have complementary engineering or environmental science backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated track record of evaluating, and closing transactions and managing multiple projects. Extensive experience with financial modeling, due diligence processes, and deal negotiations/structuring.
  • Excellent communication, writing, negotiation and financial analysis skills, computer and spreadsheet proficiencies.
  • Highest level of ethical standards, integrity, professionalism and judgment.
  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where everyone is expected to balance multiple roles and commitments.
  • Entrepreneurial team player, willing and able to work long hours and contribute in multiple ways in a start-up environment.
  • Willing to travel extensively in the US.
  • All positions with GEI are subject to trial periods with quarterly reviews during the first year and annual reviews thereafter. Performance reviews will be based on clearly defined quantitative and qualitative metrics.

Compensation:  Competitive salary, annual bonus eligibility. Competitive benefit package.  The individual will be expected to make a capital investment in the fund.
