Description

Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT) seeks a dynamic, creative president to lead one of the country's most respected private land conservation organizations. This is an exceptional opportunity to provide new vision and leadership to a complex, well-established enterprise that is poised for continued growth and effectiveness.

Since its founding in 1970, MCHT has worked to conserve Maine's rugged shores, pristine islands and treasured community lands, successfully protecting more than 125,000 acres, including more than 270 entire coastal islands. The Trust focuses its efforts on islands and coastal lands with a range of values - scenic, ecological, recreational, cultural and productive.

In addition, through its Maine Land Trust Network, MCHT works to strengthen the capacity of Maine's local land trusts, providing guidance and fostering partnerships that protect land throughout the state.

Reporting to and working in partnership with the Board of Directors, the president will be expected to maintain the momentum and clear focus on mission that has characterized Maine Coast Heritage Trust's success to date, while continuing to develop innovative approaches to land conservation and stewardship that will ensure success in the future. Maintaining strong relationships with the Trust's many stakeholders while proactively seeking new community partners will be essential.

The president should be a strategic, results-oriented leader with the utmost integrity and an affinity for building relationships in a respectful and transparent manner. A deep commitment to preserving Maine's coastal resources is essential, as are strong management, communications, and fundraising skills.

Please email all inquiries, nominations, and applications in confidence.
