President

The Synergos Institute, a global leader working to develop and implement effective, sustainable and locally rooted solutions to extreme poverty, seeks a new President.

Based in New York City, Synergos brings an extraordinary alignment of global philanthropic networks, program resources, credibility in the international development field and a well-established commitment to a lasting change in the fight against extreme poverty and human deprivation. Synergos concentrates its work in Africa, Asia and Latin America and has an annual budget of $10 million.

The new President will report to the Board of Directors, led by Peggy Dulany, Founder and Board Chair. The President must possess superior leadership experience in order to facilitate the integration of all key programs into a sustainable and entrepreneurial global enterprise. 

The President should ideally possess the following professional qualifications and personal attributes: 

* A passionate commitment to the mission of Synergos and to the convening of people to make ending extreme poverty a global reality; 

*  A proven leader of a complex international organization or business enterprise;  

*  A leadership record of success in raising significant funds from a range of sources, including private and family foundations, corporate foundation and corporate sponsorships, international development agencies, non-US government sources, individual donors and other revenue-generating activities; 

*  A leadership style and experience creating broad-based partnerships that cross ethnic, cultural and sector lines - experience working with community-based organizations and grassroots leaders, in bridging sectors and effecting change; 

*  A leadership track record working with top executives from global business, multilateral and development organizations, foundations and other nonprofit enterprises, Congress and international government leaders in the Southern Hemisphere; 

*  A capacity to learn from experience, to adapt as needed, to co-generate new ideas, to listen and to work with others to shape emerging futures; 

*  A persuasive communicator who has an engaging intellect and who leads by example; 

*  A demonstrated record of experience living in Africa, Asia or Latin America.
